Carol Vavra, DVM, CVA
Dr. Carol Vavra is the Acupuncturist and Integrative Medicine Veterinarian at VESH.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the United States Air Force Academy in 1986. After 7 years in the Air Force, Dr. Vavra went to veterinary school at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating in 1998, she lived in Hawaii and Florida, working in both general practice and emergency veterinary hospitals, and was also active in the Air Force Reserves. While in Hawaii, Dr. Vavra developed an interest in acupuncture and became certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001. Once she began using acupuncture to treat animals she saw the incredible benefits of using integrative veterinary medicine - combining conventional treatments such as medication and surgery with acupuncture and other forms of complementary medicine. Her goal is to treat as many animals as possible and talk with clients and veterinarians about how to provide the best quality of life for the animals in their care. Dr. Vavra grew up in upstate NY and is very happy to be back in the Northeast. When not at work she and her husband Paul enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with their three cats - Friskie, Gimp, and Bobbie.
